How the bot gets onto your website
The bot is added with a single line of code. The line is in the email you receive from us: copy it, paste it in one place on your website, save. You do not need any technical knowledge, and nothing on your website is rebuilt.
On this page you can see the complete process as a video, plus the route for your system: WordPress, Shopware, Shopify, TYPO3, Joomla or a hand-built website.
The whole process in under three minutes
The video shows the process using WordPress as the example, from the email to the bot's first answer. It is not a mock-up: it was recorded in a real WordPress installation, and the button that appears at the end is our real bot.
- Open the email and copy the one line.
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Install the free WPCode plugin. You only need to do this once.
- Paste the line into the footer field and save. Paste it, do not type it out: the editor completes what you type by itself and breaks the line in the process.
- Open your website. The bot is there and answers.
WordPress
The route is via the free WPCode plugin: install it, paste the line into the footer field, save. The main video above shows both for real; the short version here is for a second look while you follow along.
Shopware 6
Out of the box, Shopware has no field for your own code. Installing the bot needs either an extension from the Shopware Store or access to the shop's files. The video shows the route as described in the provider's instructions.
Shopify
With Shopify the route is via your shop's theme. The video shows it step by step, following the provider's instructions.
TYPO3
In TYPO3 the line belongs in the website's template. Worth knowing: this needs administrator rights; an editor account does not even see the module you need. If an agency looks after your site, it is a matter of minutes for them.
Joomla
In Joomla the line goes into the website's template. The video shows the route as described in the provider's instructions.
Hand-built website
On a hand-built website the line belongs in the HTML code, ideally just before the end of the page. Whoever built the site will know straight away where that is. And if someone else looks after your website, simply forward them our email; for them it is a matter of two minutes.
